masquerade.

today, a very good friend of mine had her 18th birthday party. the theme was a masquerade, so everyone had to dress up. of course, clumsy and unorganized as i am, i found out this morning that i was actually gonna go to the party, so...guess who didn't have a costume??? yes, ada didn't :(. ooops. so i tried to get creative with what i did have in my closet, and in the end i came up with something that sort of looked like a biker chick costume, but not really. i do like it as an outfit, though, and i'm thinking i'm gonna wear it as my halloween costume since it's age appropriate (as in it's not too silly, yet not old and boring) and everything.
purple tank: bealls (underneath other top)
bomber jacket: ross dress for less
shirt-dress: urban outfitters
leggings: some random place earrings: wet seal

ring: some random store in romania

purse: random thrift shop

ankle boots: payless shoesource

my friend's costume was amazing! and she made it herself.

all in all, it was a pretty fun night. <3>

all-nighters :|

so it is 6:04 in the morning and i haven't gotten any sleep tonight, due to the large amount of homework teachers randomly decided to assign us lately. i know i haven't posted in a while and i'm really sorry if there's anybody that actually enjoys my blogging and that reads my posts constantly: sorry to dissappoint you and make you wait that long. lately, i haven't been doing much except for homework (and i'm talking HUGE amounts of homework), costumes for Olions (the drama club at school) and French Club. anyway, on the 3-day weekend i went to Las Vegas, and *gasp* i actually took decent-looking pictures so...enjoy;)

These are my outfits (nothing fancy, i just wanted to feel comfortable):
These are the shirts i bought at H&M (that only cost me $15, might i add):

I wanted this shirt so bad. I thought it was funny (and, sadly, i thought it was true). my mom didnt find it as funny as i did:

And...more pictures!

hope you had an AWESOME 3-day weekend!

racist?

do you ever look at people that are different from you in a strange way?do you feel like sometimes you judge people too quickly? or just stereotype themby their skin color? or the way they dress? or the way they look in general?i don't. well, that's partially true. see, i believe there's two types of racist: the ones that go and insult people and stereotype them and judge them in a bad way, and then there's the ones that notice that someone is different, but that also see the beauty in the other person. like, i'm caucasian (and my nationality is romanian), but i admire different things in different people.asians, for example, have amazing style and they are so smart. african and african-american women carrythemselves with so much poise, it's actually inspiring. russian girls have amazing blonde hair. and south americans have such a tropical beauty.
i wrote this post because of friday. friday i went to splashtown, in san antonio, texas. i was feelingvery self conscious about my body, trying to cover up entirely in a towel. then i saw this one african-american lady. she wasn't skinny. not at all. she had a lot of curves, maybe a little bit too much. but the way she caried herself, like she owned the place, but without making it seem like she is full of herself, was just so inspiring to meand i'm sure she was inspiring to lots of other girls in the same position as me. this lady made me open my eyes wide andsee that the way you look isn't everything, but if you carry yourself with poise, people are going to love you. and guess what.guys were checking her out the entire time!

guilty as charged.

the other day i went into a walmart store, eager to see the new line by miley cyrus and max azria.actually, correction. i was eager to negatively comment on the line, thinking that it would be just another look-at-me-i-raided-hannah-montana's-closet clothing line. turns out, i was wrong. i can honestly say that i would wear ANYTHING and i mean ANYTHING out of that collection. i love the way they have balanced chic items and then they also have punk and rock elements. i'm probably gonna end up buying the entire thing (although i don't usuallybuy clothing items from walmart). because of this clothing line, i gained more respect for miley cyrus and i think she would make a fabulous designer. pictures below(stolen from the wal mart website)...shhh...don't tell :D

my kingdom for tomato juice...

i just flew to the u.s. the other day. nothing very interesting. i do have to say, though, the following:
1. i. HATE. the. frankfurt. airport
2. i.LOVE.the.washington.airport
anyway...as much as i hate airplanes i would go on another flight anytime, just because of the amazing tomato juice they have.

just look at it...doesn't it look ridiculously yummy? :x....especially when you add salt and pepper. :))
haha sorry for the random post. i'm having a very non-inspired day. lol. i solemnly swear to post something decent at one point this week ;)

if there's lessons to be learned...

so my blog took a really HUGE RELAXING vacation...and now it's-slash-i'm back!
you're probably wondering what my summer was like. and if you're not, well, i don't blame you because...IT WAS BORING! i went to Romania (i'm still there right now) and for some random reason i had to get a math tutor (oh how i love you, sweet parents!). i guess this summer was okay. i'm really glad i came back, just because i got to see who my true friends are. the other day me and my two friends went on a picture-taking trip. we had a little photoshoot, of which pictures are coming right up.

i guess i was a little dressed up (or not). i had on a white dress and at one point my friend stole a white flower to put in my hair (shhh...don't tell on her;) ). when i was walking back home by myself, everyone was in front of our apartment building. my friend, whom i considered one of the closest people and one of the bestest friends for the longest time, just started laughing hysterically the moment she saw me and started making all these retarded jokes about weddings (because i was wearing a white dress). i pretty much decided right then and there that i don't wanna be friends with that girl anymore. a real friend doesn't do stuff like that. if she thinks you look like s#!t, she will step you aside from the crew and tell you that maybe you should go change, but she will NOT laugh at you in front of everybody. i guess the moral of this story is to surround yourself with people ho won't put you down, or put you in uncomfortable situations, cause the truth is, i really felt like s#!t when she just started laughing and everybody was staring at me and then they all joined in to make jokes. so that day pretty much sucked.

on the bright side, though, my friend Tina took some kick-ass pictures of me. don't you think they belong in a fashion magazine? i do...

so my friend Tina is e genius! 'nuff said. i WILL start posting again now :D

so you know, AVIARA GRIPA...

okay so i'm gonna start this post by saying that i love my country. i love it more than anything. but really, i'm starting to question its place in society. so question numero uno: how can we, as a country, expect to be seen as good, intelligent people by society in general when our representatives SUCK???
so i'm gonna start my story now...there once was a virus called SWINE flu(which is GRIPA PORCINA in romanian)...there was also bird flu at one point (gripa aviara). there once was a prime minister with no english skills watsoever (emil boc), who attempted to speak english with other people. he also attempted to inform them about swine flu (gripa porcina)...instead the guy, besides the fact that he was talking about BIRD FLU, as opposed to SWINE FLU, he also invented a new english word "so you know, AVIARA GRIPA"....and now, back to my question: WHY DO WE EXPECT TO BE TREATED WELL AND TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY SOCIETY???

oh and i just found out the guy used to be a professor. at a real university. which makes this whole thing even worse. bummer.

but really, im getting a little concerned about this "AVIARA GRIPA"...besides the fact that there are oh i don't know....A LOT of cases in new mexico...now this one lady has it in romania, too. she brought it from new york. i'm leaving for romania in 2 days and i can honestly say I'M FREAKED OUT! i can't even imagine being on an airplane for a whole day, then going to romania and finding out you have swine flu and being put in quarantine for 7 days of your precious vacation. not to mention the reporters that would be up your buttex the entire time...so....wish me a NON AVIARA GRIPA vacation, por favor!

$1 jewelry

there was a sale last week at wet seal, one of my favorite stores. and they had $1 jewelry, so i just couldn't help myself.

the pictures pretty much suck, mostly because my camera is not that good and neither are my room lighting, or my photography-taking skills, for that mattter. but i think i captured the essence of the amazing jewelry i got!

the bangles were like, 20 for a dollar. it made me happy.

the bracelets were a dollar for a sent of 6 or 7, i think. the watches were one dollar each, the earrings also a dollar.

i don't think i got any of the sunglasses at wet seal, but i really felt like putting them up here.

the dark, simple pair was a present from a romanian magazine.

the cheetah-looking ones i got at deb, most likely for a dollar.

the pink and the purple heart-shaped ones are my favorites. i got them for my birthday, from my friend ellen.

i think at one point i'm going to turn this into a fashion blog...should i?

american idol finale (i couldn't really find a more creative title.)

a long time ago i promised myself that, for my own good i will stop watching the following:

1. crappy reality tv

2. shows that promise to change your life (like america's next top model, so you think you can dance, and american idol)

however, even with my promise, i still decided to watch the finale, mostly out of curiosity (and because i had heard that there was this one adam lambert guy who was smoking hot). so watch, i did.

for those of you like myself, who didn't know that much about this season's contestants, here's some background information.

kris allen, 23, conway, AR

adam lambert, 26, san diego, CA

i don't really know what to comment on both. adam i have heard for the first time last night on the finale, and if i were to compare voices, adam would win in that department. kris also has an amazing voice, but maybe adam has more experience.

kris i have also heard for the first time last night, but after he won i became more curious and searched his american idol journey on youtube. turns out he sang two of my favorite songs, heartless (kanye west), and apologize (one republic). so i decided right then and there that i love him for life.

the finale was pretty intense. i appreciated kris very much. when ryan seacrest asked him how he felt after winning, kris's response was "but what about adam?". clearly, he thought adam deserved this more than he did. i can't help it, i adore people who put others first, not themselves. and the best part was that you could tell kris was being totally genuine.

other highlights of the finale had to be the bikini girl (whose name i can't remember right now), and that amazingly ridiculous specimen, tatianna del torro, who just stormed onstage and started singing. i actually believe that was the best part of the night. it would have been better if the security guards would've actually taken her offstage, though.

in the end, i have nothing else to say. well, except for the fact that i really like that song, no boundaries. :p....i don't know if the best one won, at this point i believe it doesn't even matter. both boys are very talented and both will get amazing record deals. and even though adam didn't win...maybe he'll even do better than kris...i mean, look at chris daughtry, jennifer hudson and david archuleta. even though they weren't the winners, they have become successful and influential people in the music industry. i wish the best of luck to both of them. and i'll be sure to buy both their cd's.

okay so maybe eurovision isn't THAT retarded...

..but that's just because norway qualified. because i'm still pissed off about switzerland not qualifying. so now i have the finals to look forward to. i really hope norway wins. alexander rybak had an amazing show in the semifinal, so he definately deserves to win. besides, he is AMAZINGLY HOT. that's all i have to say on the second semifinal, because none of the songs were good. aysel&arash were okay. and another song i liked was sasha son-love, and this is our night, by sakis rouvas. that would be all.

and P.S. VOTE NORWAY OR ROMANIA IN THE FINAL!!!

EuroRetarded.

I just found out the 1st semifinal of Eurovision took place...I don't really care much for the results except for the fact that Hadise got 1st place(everybody expected that one), Romania made it to the final(!!!), and Switzerland didn't make it(which makes me extremely sad, since their song was absolutely great, yet not eurovision material). I have to admit, this year there's better songs than last year, or other years, but there's nothing that just makes me delete all my other songs and just listen to IT. The only song that I find extremely catchy and amazing is Fairytale, by Alexander Rybak, from Norway. And besides the fact that he's REALLY talented, he's also a MEGA HOTTIE. My best bets for the second semifinal are:
Norway: Fairytale(alexander rybak)-in fact, i will cry if he doesn't make it
Azerbaijan: Always(aysel&arash)-nothing special about the song, but seriously, it's ARASH
Greece: This is Our Night(sakis rouvas)-1.he's hot and male; 2.he's known all over the world;3.the song has a cool video; 4.the song is actually kind of catchy; 5.the guy is hot...(but of course i have already mentioned that).

Well, that's all I can say about eurovision at this point...I'm waiting for the year somebody can actually beat the Verka Serduchka song or the Dustin the Turkey song. To me, those 2 are the most original thing ever! They rocked my eurovision years...until then....vote for ALEXANDER RYBAK in the second semifinal, and hopefully, final. and vote for Romania in the final!

And now I will attempt to post a link to my amazing Alexander rehearsing his amazing Fairytale....since I'm relatively new at this, expect FAILURE.

FML

So I don't know about you, but lately I've been kind of down, as in "my life sucks I want to commit suicide" down. But I've gotten over it. How, you ask? Well, whenever I feel bad, I go to this one AMAZING site that makes me realize that other people have it worse. Maybe you've heard of the site? http://www.fmylife.com ? Even if you didn't know the site until now you should totally check it out. My personal favorites are the sex FMLs, but the other ones are okay, too! So...here's a bunch of FMLs to keep you entertained:

"Today, I tried for the first time putting a condom on my boyfriend using my mouth. I freaked out, swallowed, and started choking on the condom. FML"
"Today, I was about to lose my virginity with my girlfriend of 2 years, when I got an urgent phone call from my 9-year-old sister, telling me I had to come home immediately. My grandma fell off the toilet and got stuck between the bowl and the wall. I'm not making this up. FML"
"Today, while at work in a subscription TV call center, a 71 year old male customer went into explicit detail about the Adult's Only programming that he enjoys, including all the kinky things he learns from said programming and tries out on his 70 year old wife. FML"
"Today, my daughter walked in on me taking a shower. She said, "Hey, yours is the same size as Dylan's!" My daughter has seen Dylan's penis, which apparently is the same size as mine. My daughter and Dylan are 7. FML"

Well, those are just SOME of the amazingly funny yet sad things people go through. Remeber...anytime you feel like your life is bad....it could be worse....you could be one of these unfortunate fellows above.
http://www.fmylife.com, you ROCK my world!

1st post

So Saturday, May 9th, 2009, 8:21 AM marks a very important day in the life of...well, me! This is the time that I write my 1st ever post in my 1st ever blog. So let's start with the basics: Ada's the name, blogging is my game (well, not yet, but it will be in a while). Anyway I live in the U.S.A., but I'm originally from Romania. I never blogged before, but some of my friends have blogs and besides it looks like loads of fun. And guess what! I promise to be loyal, courteous, steadfast and true to this blog, and the United States of America, both indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. :). The picture above shows my World History teacher's amazing calendar, which has a picture of Romania in it. That makes me muy muy happy! Well...I guess this concludes my 1st post! haha....sorry if it sucks, I'm still getting used to this....
